INSTRUMENT RATING CERTIFICATION COURSE

The Instrument Rating License will allow a pilot to fly in reduced visibility and sky conditions by the reference to flight instruments.   This course is for the Pilot that does not have an Instrument Rating. An Instrument Rating is added to a Private or Commercial Certificate.

American Winds offers TWO Instrument Rating Courses:
  1. Initial Instrument Rating
  2. Instrument Rating Add On

A Student may train under Part 61 or Part 141 rules depending how many flight hours they have.   If a Student has just completed their Private Pilots License, typically, they will obtain their Instrument under  Part 141.  Why?  American Winds has a FAA approved 37 hour training course.  This means if a Student completes their Private in 40 hours + 37 hours = Instrument Rating.  Student training under Part 61 must have at least 120 hours before getting their Rating.

Helicopter Pilots seeking their Instrument Rating may train under Part 61 or Part 141.  Please see requirements below.
