GROUND SCHOOL

One of the most underrated aspects of flight training is attending a quality ground school. American Winds has a well-defined and structured ground school with FAA-approved classes, as well as an Open Enrollment Policy for both ground and flight training. We strongly encourage all students - “Weekend Warriors” or career-minded students - to attend.
Ground school provides a structured learning environment as well as personal interaction with qualified instructors. The sessions will provide reference points relating to every topic you will need for all current and future flight training. Once you have made the decision to pursue flight training, reserve your space in our ground school.
The sessions run concurrently on either Mondays and Wednesdays for 9 weeks, or on Saturdays for 12 weeks.

Highlights of our ground school course include:
· A one-time fee of only $495.00
· Evening and weekend classes to accommodate your schedule
· One time fee for unlimited attendance. A value of over $1,400.00
· Concurrent sessions running every 2-3 months
· Taught by experienced Ground/Flight instructors
· Opportunities to use the Cirrus II Flight Simulator
· Visits to the Akron-Canton Regional Airport control tower and the approach facilities in Oberlin, which controls most of airspace in the northeastern United States
· FAA Approved Private, Instrument, and Commercial ground school

AWFA is the FIRST flight school to offer unlimited sitting for ground school. Don't be fooled by other flight academies which offer that until you take your FAA Knowledge Exam. We understand the value of quality and continued education. Enroll in our ground school, obtain your certificate or rating, then come back to ground school for a refresher prior to your Flight Review. A Flight Review is a FAA requirement of a pilot to take a minimum of one hour flight and one ground. This will allow a Certified Flight Instructor to assess the pilot ability to be safe to fly for the next two years.
Students may enroll in Ground Sessions prior to or during a session. Students must complete the specified academic subjects and tests before each stage is passed, as defined in the FAA-approved syllabus. Please refer to the appropriate course syllabus for specific completion stipulations.
