PRIVATE PILOT - MULTI ENGINE LAND (MEL) COURSE

The Private Pilot Multi-Engine Course will introduce the Private Pilot to multi-engine aircraft. Students will obtain the knowledge, skill, and aeronautical experience necessary to meet the requirements for a multi-engine rating. This course is best for students who are not interested in pursuing a career in aviation.

 

Course Objective:

The Private Pilot Multi Engine Land Course is designed to teach the student the skills knowledge necessary to become a safe and proficient multi-engine pilot. This course covers multi-engine aerodynamics, systems & performance, engine-out operations & instrument flight through actual airborne & graphic sequences.

The Private Pilot Multi Engine Land Course is designed to teach the student the skills knowledge necessary to become a safe and proficient multi-engine pilot.


Ground training includes:

Introduction to multi-engine operations, aircraft systems, weight and balance, performance limitations, multi-engine aerodynamics and maneuvers/procedures, engine out aerodynamics and operations, emergency operations, and day cross countries. The applicant will demonstrate, through oral and written tests that the necessary aeronautical knowledge has been obtained for an airplane multi-engine land class rating.

Flight training includes:
Steep turns, stalls, slow flight, Vmc demonstration, emergency descent, engine out emergency procedures (enroute and in the traffic pattern), engine feathering and restart, normal and crosswind take-offs and landings, aborted take-offs and simulated single engine landings.

 

Requirements:

  • At least 17 years of age
  • 10 hours of flight time, as well as 8 hours of ground instruction
  • Hold at least a 3rd Class Medical
  • Students must hold at least a private pilot’s license

Cost

The private multi-engine rating course includes about 10 hours of flight instruction and 8 hours of ground instruction in our Seneca II aircraft. The total cost of the course is an approximation and actual student costs may be higher. Click here for pricing.
