According to FAA regulations, students seeking designated Certificates and Ratings are required to take a FAA written knowledge exam. These knowledge exams will demonstrate the student's level of competency in a multitude of aviation subjects.
The FAA has delegated the testing services to an outside contractor known as CATS (Computer Assisted Testing Service). Under the guidelines of the FAA, knowledge exams may only be given through certified testing centers. American Winds is an approved testing center. The knowledge exams will range in both allotted time and question lengths.

When may I order or schedule to take an Exam?
American Winds can order knowledge exams from CATS Testing six days a week. CATS Testing hours for ordering tests are
9 AM to 8 PM Monday - Friday
11 AM to 3 PM on Saturday
Closed on Sunday.
American Winds schedules and administers exams by appointment only. Generally speaking, exams are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm. The last exam appointment of the day is 4:30 pm. Some exams require allotted time of 2.5 hours to 3 hours. Due to the required allotted time, exams will not be given after 4:30 pm. Exams will be by appointment only on Saturday and Sunday.
