PREREQUISITES FOR ENROLLMENT

  • Be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
  • Receive at least a 2nd class Medical.
  • Pass an FAA Commercial Knowledge Exam (60 multiple choice questions).

COMMERCIAL PILOT COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Commercial Certification Course - Single Engine is for those students who require commercial pilot privileges in single engine aircraft.

Ground school instruction includes: preflight preparation and procedures; complex aircraft procedures; complex aircraft systems; advanced aerodynamics principles; airplane performance limitations; federal aviation regulations; stall/spin awareness; aeronautical charts and publications; radio aids to VFR navigation; meteorology and weather data services; national airspace system; radio communications; air traffic control; aero medical factors; commercial operations; passenger and freight loading; night maneuvers; and ground operations.

Flight training syllabus includes: preflight procedures; airport operations; maximum performance takeoffs and landings; maximum performance flight maneuvers; ground reference maneuvers; navigation and cross country flying; slow flight and stalls; complex aircraft operation; commercial flight maneuvers; emergency producers; night operations; and post flight briefing.

ADDITONAL COSTS:

  • Commercial Pilot FAA Written Exam: $90.00
  • Examiner's Fee for the FAA Oral & Practical Test: $250.00
  • Books, Charts, Checklist, POH, Kneeboard, etc.

American Winds Flight Academy, Inc., cannot predict the exact cost of your flight training beforehand.  The cost of flight training depends on many factors including type and size of airplane, how often you fly, and the time and dedication that you spend on academic study.  Monies paid for books and materials, flight check-rides or additional training hours are not included.  It is the policy of American Winds Flight Academy not to endorse an end of course check-ride until the student pilot has demonstrated the proficiency and satisfactory skills required as outlined in the FAA Practical Test Standards.
